Homegrown e-bike manufacturer Polarity Smart Bikes, is all set to unveil six new pedal-assisted e-bikes in India by the end of this month. This includes the S1K, S2K, S3K, which are classified under the Sport lineup, and the E1K, E2K and E3K that come under the Executive range. Pre-bookings for these smart bicycles will commence on the company's official website for a token amount of Rs 1,001 post the unveil. The official launch, however, will take place towards the end of 2019.
All six e-bikes have been teased via images released by the manufacture itself. The E1K and S1K, for instance have a square-ish LED headlamp as opposed to the circular ones on the rest of the models. Similarly, the top-of-the-line S3K and E3K feature different instrument consoles when compared to the standard models. The seat gets a height adjustment lever and the handlebar may get some form of adjustment too! In terms of underpinnings, all six smart bikes come equipped with an adjustable upside-down fork, an adjustable monoshock and disc brakes at both ends. The tyre dimensions and tread pattern are the same on all the bicycles.
The biggest visual difference between the two models is the addition of a full-length carrier on the Executive range which should add to its practicality. The Sport lineup, on the other hand, gets a tyre hugger which seems a bit impractical.
Powering these e-bikes are hub motors ranging from 1-3kW paired with lithium-ion batteries that offer a claimed range of 80km on a single charge. Notably, the top-spec models can achieve a top speed of 100kmph. Also, the inclusion of pedal-assistance should reduce range anxiety, unlike e-scooters which solely rely on battery power. Interestingly, you could also stay fit by cycling at home using the brands custom stand that converts your e-bike into an exercise machine.
In terms of pricing, the top-spec S3K & E3K models are expected to cost around Rs 1.2 lakh while the more affordable e-bikes in the brands portfolio may cost around Rs 35,000-Rs 45,000 (ex-showroom). Polarity’s future plans include selling their bikes via popular e-commerce platforms.
