Generally when you do something for the first time you start off on a good note – it’s considered auspicious or whatever that means. So then, I’ve thought a lot and eventually came up with a list of things I shouldn’t be writing about so that my first post on the ZigBlogs stays nice and positive.

Generally when you do something for the first time you start off on a good note – it’s considered auspicious or whatever that means. So then, I’ve thought a lot and eventually came up with a list of things I shouldn’t be writing about so that my first post on the ZigBlogs stays nice and positive.

I shouldn’t certainly be writing about the economic slowdown and such – not a particularly good theme to start off with for two distinct reasons – first, it’s been done to death by everyone who knows about the subject and a lot more by those who don’t know anything about it all. Second, it’s disappointing and I thought we were going to keep away from that kind of stuff for now.

I sure as hell shouldn’t be writing about Formula 1 either – I already have written what I wanted to when I did the race reports and features for ZigWheels and sister website TOI Racing. And anyone who was ever in love with the sport (like me, for example) can only walk around with his head bowed in shame at the state of affairs that it has come down to. A stand-off in motorsport – how very nice! Not!

I’m most definitely keeping away from topics about pollution and traffic congestion and noise and heat and rain and the weather. I’m skipping the bit about my long term test car – the Swift DZire ZDi as well ‘cause as I’m typing this, it is already about time for the car to go back to Maruti. Be assured you’re going to get to read a very glum ‘good-bye’ report for the DZire soon enough in our Reviews section so I’ll spare everyone the torment on the blog.

So what do I write about then? For starters, we are now on TV! Three cheers for the ZigWheels team! Completing our plan of offering a 360-degree coverage for the Indian automotive world through various media including print (supplements with TOI and ET across the country) and online (www.zigwheels.com) is our brand new television show – which goes by the same name as the website and the supplements obviously. The show will be aired every Thursday at 19.30 hrs on ET Now. So get on your cable operator’s case and make sure you get the channel at home.

Making a great mix with the television show’s hosts Rashid Raza and Abha Bakaya are yours truly – the ZigWheels content team. Though we may not look as attractive as presenters on other shows, we know what we’re talking about and all the expertise and information that we’ve been giving you on the website will now be beamed straight to your TV sets! How cool is that!
