The 1900PS quad-motor electric powertrain helps the hypercar achieve a sub-2 second 0-100kmph sprint, and a 350kmph top speed.
First production model gets blacked out exteriors, black alloy wheels, and black sustainable leather, Iconica Blu Alcantara upholstery.
Feature highlights include a driver-centric cabin, and an infotainment system with connected technology and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Only 150 units will be handmade, five of them allotted for the Battista Anniversario edition.
Mahindra-owned Automobili Pininfarina has officially unleashed the first ever production-spec iteration of the Battista all-electric hypercar at the Monterey Car Week, in California, US. Named after the founder of the company Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, the electric hypercar boasts a poster-worthy design, premium cabin, and mind-numbing performance. And all that while being an emissions-free vehicle.
In fact the carmaker has gone the extra mile for the first production model to roll off its production line in Cambino, Italy; lending it a bespoke black carbon fibre finish, with gloss black Impulso forged aluminium alloy wheels to give it a mean look. Aside from that, it’s drop dead gorgeous without the need of bonkers appendages courtesy of the beautiful Pininfarina design philosophy. This design philosophy is well known for its sleek lines, and curvaceous proportions, as well as clean elements to give its models a poster-worthy look.
The bespoke bits on the first Battista unit continue inside with black sustainable leather and Iconica Blu Alcantara upholstery. Sure the cabin is largely driver-focused, but there are creature comforts such as an infotainment system with connected technology and over-the-air (OTA) updates. All this can be customised in a variety of ways according to the carmaker, and it can be done in person at their production line in Cambino, Italy.
The real party trick is of course what it packs under the hood. Combine four electric motors that are juiced by a 120kWh battery pack, and the Battista can push a mind-numbing 1900PS of grunt and 2300Nm of twist. With all four wheels handling this power, the electric hypercar can sprint to 100kmph from standstill in less than 2 seconds, and top out at 350kmph. It can go up to a distance of 500km without the need for a recharge.
Going quick in a straight line is one thing, being a handy beast in the corners is another ball game altogether. Thankfully, the Battista covers all that with aggressive aerodynamics, torque vectoring, CCMR carbon-ceramic brakes, a double-wishbone suspension setup, and bespoke chassis settings. There’s five driving modes to play with: Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa and Carattere.
The Pininfarina Battista is set to go on sale in 2022. As insane as the electric hypercar is, it is a rare gem, with only 150 units of the hypercar being handmade. Five amongst these units will be the even rarer Battista Anniversario edition to celebrate 90 years of Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina creating the legendary company. It goes up against the likes of the Lotus Evija and its sibling, the Rimac Nevera.
