The Lotus C-01 is amongst the unique motorcycles to be ever made and holds the distinction of being the first two-wheeler offering from the iconic car manufacturer. It was launched in 2014 and production was limited to just 100 units to maintain exclusivity. Unsurprisingly all the 100 units where lapped up by collectors across the globe which means even if you have the money one couldn’t buy it. But now you can get hold of one as a Lotus C-01 will come up for sale at the Mecum auction in Monterey, California on August 18th. The estimated rice for the Lotus C-01 is in the range of Rs 2.4 and Rs 3.4 crore which makes the Rs 70 lakh sticker price of the motorcycle when it was launched seem like a bargain! The particular model which will come up for sale is the only Lotus C-01 to be present in North America and the odometer reads just 3.2km.
The C-01 has been engineered and built under license by German car racing team Kodewa and tuning firm Holzer Group (co-owners of Kalex). The C-01 has been designed by Daniel Simon who has previously designed Bugatti’s and was also the pen behind the stunning Lightcycles in the 2010 Hollywood sci-fi flick ‘Tron: Legacy’. His wicked and edgy sense of styling can be easily seen on the new bike. The C-01’s body has been created by integrating carbon fibre, titanium and aerospace quality steel to keep it weight as low as possible and it tips the scale at just 181kg. Firepower is provided by a 1,195cc, V-twin engine sourced from the KTM RC8R, which has been tuned further to produce in around 180PS. The bike will be available in a range of liveries, which have been inspired from various Lotus motorsport cars.
