Renault has revealed the Triber AMT automatic MPV at Auto Expo 2020 in India. Its Easy-R AMT is borrowed from the Kwid’s 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The clutch-less Triber will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the Indian market. Other notable changes include different alloy wheels, roof rails and dual-tone interiors.
The Triber is built on the compact modular CMF-A platform which also underpins the Kwid. It is powered by a BS6 1.0-litre Energy petrol engine which makes 72PS of power and 96Nm of torque.
Renault also has a turbocharged Triber in the works. It is expected to come with a 1.0-litre TCE turbo petrol good for 100PS and 160Nm of torque. This engine will likely give the Triber the shove it needs to carry a full load of 7 passengers. However, the engine is also likely to make the Triber more expensive. Expect a launch by mid-2020. Moreover, Renault has also showcased a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine which puts out an healthy 130PS.
The new automatic variant of the Triber is likely to come as a relief to many of the Triber’s buyers looking for driver’s comfort in city traffic. The Triber with a turbo engine will also make its debut over the coming months.
