The Renault Captur is priced from Rs 9.99 lakh for the base petrol variant and Rs 14.05 lakh for the top diesel variant, ex-showroom India. The variants and their prices are as follows:

Engine and Transmission

The Renault Captur is being offered with only two engine/transmission options - a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol paired with a 5-speed manual transmission; and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Power is sent only to the front wheels; there is no AWD variant like the Duster. The specs of the engines are as follows:

On the outside, the Captur RXE gets projector headlamps, chrome-studded grille, LED DRLs, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated LED indicators, body-coloured door handles,  black cladding, chrome exhaust pipe and 16-inch steel wheels. 

Colour options include Planet Grey, Moonlight Silver, Cayenne Orange, Mahogany Brown and Pearl White.

Inside, the Captur RXE gets front fabric door armrests, height-adjustable steering, height-adjustable driver seat, centre armrest at the front and rear, black door handles, fabric seat upholstery, black and ivory interior highlights.

Equipment wise, the RXE gets a start/stop button, fully automatic climate control with rear A/C vents, steering-mounted multimedia and telephony controls,, front and rear power windows, driver-side auto up/down power window, illuminated power window switches, 12v socket at the front, and boot lamp.

The instrument cluster has a digital/analogue setup with an analogue tachometer, digital speedometer and a digital multi-information display. The multimedia system consists of a 2-DIN audio system with MP3/AM/FM/USB/Aux-in/Bluetooth connected to a 4-speaker system.

Safety systems offered as standard include dual front airbags, ABS+EBD+BA, remote access card, a rear defogger and windshield wiper, ISOFIX, auto door lock along with impact-sensing unlock and engine immobiliser.

On the outside, the Captur RXL is mostly the same as the RXE variant apart from the following: The front and rear bumpers get satin skid plates, B- & C-pillars get matt black tape, chrome on the side black cladding, and 16-inch ‘gemstone’ alloy wheels instead of the steel wheels on the RXE.

Colour options remain the same as the RXE and include Planet Grey, Moonlight Silver, Cayenne Orange, Mahogany Brown and Pearl White.

Inside, the Captur RXL gets a rear parcel shelf, the ULC 3.0 touchscreen infotainment screen and a gear shift indicator in the instrument cluster.

Equipment wise, the RXL gets the following additional features over the RXE: cruise control with speed limiter functionality and an eco mode button.

The 2-DIN multimedia system is replaced by a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which has MP3/AM/FM/USB/Aux-in/Bluetooth streaming and AC information display paired to a 6-speaker display.

Additional safety equipment is restricted to rear parking sensors.

On the outside, the Captur RXT gets the following: chrome bezels around the headlamps, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, chrome strip on the bootlid and 17-inch ‘crystal cut’ alloy wheels.

The Renault Captur RXT variant can be had with dual-tone paint options as well. These will cost Rs 17,000 more than the mono paint options. Only two mono paint options are available - Planet Grey and Moonlight Silver. Dual-tone themes include Mahogany Brown with black roof, Pearl White with black roof, Cayenne Orange with Marble Ivory roof, Mahogany Brown with Marble Ivory.

Inside, the Captur RXT is offered with beige fabric seats and front armrests with blue stitching, blue highlights, leather wrapped steering wheel, LED cabin lights, chrome door handles and a chrome parking brake button.

Equipment wise, the RXT gets automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a cooled glovebox and front seatback pockets. The 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system has built-in satellite navigation and reverse camera display with fixed guidelines.

Renault Captur Platine

The Platine variant gets the following extra features on the outside: upper grille highlights in chrome, all-LED headlamps and ‘floating’ dynamic indicators.

The Renault Captur Platine variant can also be had with dual-tone paint options and these will cost Rs 17,000 more than the mono paint options, just as is the case with the RXT dual-tone. Only two mono paint options are available - Planet Grey and Moonlight Silver. Dual-tone themes include Mahogany Brown with grey roof, Pearl White with grey roof, Cayenne Orange with black roof.

Inside, the Captur Platine is offered with composite black-and-white leather upholstery with rose gold stitching, leather-wrapped gearshift, rose gold highlights, white illumination around the climate control module on the dashboard and illuminated front cup holders.

Additional safety equipment includes LED cornering fog lamps, 6 airbags including side and curtain airbags, hill start assist and electronic stability control.

Even the base RXE variant of the Captur makes sense as it does not miss out on most of the essential features, it is also fitted with a whole host of safety features. Renault is also offering a vast accessory catalogue which can help spec the base variant to a respectable level. The best variant to go for is the RXT, with gets almost all the features offered on the top-of-the-line Platine variant except for mostly cosmetic updates.
