The new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol makes 156PS and 250Nm.
It gets only minor variant-based design changes such as red accents and turbo badging.
Transmission options consist of a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-step CVT.
The Turbo will be the range topping variant in the Duster’s lineup.
The Renault Duster Turbo, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, is set to be launched as soon as this month. It gets a major upgrade in the form of a new turbocharged engine.
The new turbocharged 1.3-litre petrol engine makes 156PS and 250Nm, which is 50PS and 108Nm more than the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This new engine was recently introduced in the 2020 Nissan Kicks and is more powerful than the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. The Duster Turbo will get a 6-speed MT and a 7-step CVT on the transmission end. The new turbocharged petrol engine will serve as a replacement for the 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The Duster Turbo will maintain the same looks as the model showcased at the expo save for some minor bits. These include red accents on the front grille, Duster and Turbo badging on the tailgate, and bigger restyled 17-inch alloy wheels.
Aside from the mechanical upgrade and some minor cosmetic tweaks, the Duster Turbo will virtually remain the same in terms of design and interior layout. New features in the Turbo include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with idle engine start stop, and cabin pre-cooling with remote..
Expect the Duster Turbo to be launched at a premium over its current price as a top-spec variant. The Turbo trim will be available in a manual and an automatic variant. With this new powerful engine, it will lock horns with compact SUVs such as Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta as well as the Nissan Kicks.
