Renault India’s lineup currently consists of just three models: the Kwid hatchback, the Kiger sub-4m SUV, and the Triber MPV, all of which are long overdue for an update. Responding to mounting speculations, Renault has announced that generational updates for the Kiger and Triber are slated for the second half of 2025, with a new SUV scheduled for launch in 2026.
While the much-anticipated revival of the popular Duster nameplate was expected this year, it now seems to have been pushed to the next. Let’s take a look at what the French automaker might have in store for us:
The next-gen Renault Triber MPV is also expected to bring a host of cosmetic updates alongside modern features and a familiar powertrain as well as the silhouette. The current Triber on sale in India comes in a seven-seater configuration with a wealth of features like an 8-inch infotainment system, a wireless phone charger, and four airbags. All of these could be upgraded in the next-generation model.
The Renault Kiger sub-compact SUV is currently on sale, and prices start at Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). With a generational update, the Kiger could get noticeable cosmetic tweaks including an updated grille, new lighting elements and newly designed alloy wheels. As for features, the next-gen Kiger can bring significant changes including enhanced safety with six airbags as standard. Though nothing has been put out officially yet, we expect it to retain its mechanicals with the same 1-lire NA petrol and 1-litre turbo petrol engine with both manual and automatic gearbox.
Renault has also confirmed the arrival of an all-new SUV in 2026, which we believe could be the highly anticipated Duster — initially expected to make a comeback by the end of this year. Alongside the Duster, there’s also the Renault Bigster, a larger 7-seater version slated for introduction in India. While it’s likely that Renault will prioritize leveraging the popular Duster nameplate first, it will be interesting to see if they do otherwise and debut with the Bigster instead. For now, we’ll have to wait until next year for further updates on this front. Meanwhile, you can learn more about what to expect in this story.
