Renault has announced it will be joining hands with CERO for vehicle scraping solutions. This news comes a day after Mahindra revealed CERO, its in-house vehicle scraping solutions company. Renault’s new programme, the ‘R.E.L.I.V.E’, allows car buyers to scrap their old vehicle for a new Renault under one roof. This eliminates the hassle of visiting a local RTO or a vehicle scrapping agency.

R.E.L.I.V.E will initially begin in six cities: Delhi, the NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Mumbai. The entire process is quite similar to CERO. We explain it in four easy points if you intend to scrap your old vehicle for a new Renault:

  • Your old vehicle will be evaluated for a fair scrapping/exchange value.

  • Post evaluation, the vehicle will be sent to CERO for dismantling and scrapping.

  • A certificate of destruction with the vehicle’s value will be provided to the customer.

  • CERO and Renault will also be responsible for de-registering the vehicle at the RTO.

The certificate of destruction makes you eligible for benefits (of the scrapped vehicle’s value) on the purchase of a new Renault. Along with the scrapped value, Renault will also offer monthly benefits on the Kwid, Triber, Duster, making it an even more tempting proposition. The recently launched Kiger isn’t offered with any discounts.

Renault will also accept prospects for scrapping two-wheelers. Customers scrapping their two wheeler for a new Renault will be eligible for a special 7.99 percent rate of interest from the carmaker’s in-house finance service.

Renault is the second carmaker to introduce in-house vehicle scrapping solutions before the government’s scrappage policy comes into effect from October 1. Both the government as well as manufacturers are offering benefits to encourage vehicle scrapping. This includes a 5 percent discount from the manufacturer and a 4-6 percent cut from the government. Buyers will be eligible for these benefits only if they scrap their old vehicle and buy a new one, though.
