Unofficial Pre-launch Bookings For Renault Kiger Begin In Major Cities

• Kiger’s booking amount ranges between Rs 10,000 and Rs 51,000.
• Prices are set to be revealed in March 2021.
• It will be offered with two petrol engines and three transmissions.
• It could be priced between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh.

Select Renault dealerships across India have begun unofficial pre-launch bookings for the Kiger, ahead of its launch in March. The Kiger is Renault’s sub-4 metre SUV, set to lock horns with established rivals such as the Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Here’s what the booking amounts are in the major cities:

Our dealer sources hinted the Kiger could reach showrooms by mid-February. Test drives and official bookings are also likely to begin at the same time. That said, we feel the Kiger should be atop your list if you’ve had your eyes set on it. Click here to read our first impression. 

The Kiger can be had with only petrol power (no diesel engine on offer). It will come with two 1.0-litre petrol engines -- a 72PS/96Nm naturally aspirated unit and a 100PS/160Nm turbocharged petrol motor. A 5-speed manual transmission is offered as standard. However, unlike the Magnite, both engines are provided with an automatic transmission. The naturally aspirated engine can be had with a 5-speed AMT, whereas the turbocharged motor will be mated to a CVT. 

The Kiger’s prices are likely to be similar to those of the Magnite, with the base-spec variant starting around Rs 5.5 lakh. It’s likely to undercut the entire segment, except the Magnite.
