The Renault Kwid is available with two powertrains: an 0.8-litre and a 1.0-litre petrol motor. The 0.8-litre motor produces 55PS of power and 72Nm of torque whereas the 1.0-litre motor produces 68PS of power and 91Nm of torque. Both the engines can be had with a 5-speed MT while the 5-speed AMT is limited to the 1.0-litre motor.

The Kwid also gets a plethora of safety features as standard on all variants. This includes a driver’s side airbag, ABS with EBD, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensors and an over-speed alert. Unique features in the Kwid include a seven-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and a rear camera. Apart from that, the Kwid also offers a digital speedometer, rear charging socket and rear centre armrest.

The French carmaker has also started work on the Kwid facelift, which has been spied testing in India. The facelifted Kwid takes plenty of design traits from the all-electric City KZ-E hatchback that was unveiled at the 2019 Auto Shanghai. The all-electric hatchback is likely to make it to India as well. The Kwid facelift is expected to go on sale in Diwali this year and is expected to be priced more than the current Kwid.

The Renault Kwid takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Datsun Redi-GO.
