In a bid to clear out the old stock, Renault has launched a 'Live For More Edition' with the 2016 model year units of the Kwid. This special edition features cosmetic changes to both the interior and exterior of the car in the form of some additional liveries and accessories. The Live For More Edition is being offered with no additional cost and can be had with all the three iterations of the car - 0.8-litre manual, 1.0-litre AMT and 1.0-litre manual.
The Live For More Edition of the Kwid looks rather quirky and sporty with its new set of graphics. On the outside, it gets red highlights on the front grille, red highlights on the wheel caps, dual-tone roof rails, a red spoiler, front offset racing stripes which all go way back to the end of the roof and body graphics on the sides. Inside, the three-spoke steering wheel gets a dual-tone cover and some contrasting highlights on the door panels.
The Renault Kwid is available with three mechanical options. It comes with either a 799cc or a 999cc petrol engine. The smaller unit develops 54PS of power and 72Nm of torque whereas the bigger one churns out 68PS of power and 91Nm of torque. The 0.8-litre engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission and claims to deliver a mileage of 25.17kmpl. The 1.0-litre engine can be had with either the five-speed manual, or an AMT automatic transmission with a first-in-class dial shifter.
The base STD 0.8 variant of the Kwid starts at Rs 2.64 lakh and the top-end RXT 0.8 variant with driver airbag is priced at Rs 3.79 lakh. The 1.0-litre Kwid only comes with the RXT variant and prices start from Rs 3.88 lakh for the manual and Rs 4.31 lakh for the AMT (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The Kwid competes with the Hyundai Eon and the highest selling car of the country - Maruti Suzuki Alto.
This move by Renault is directed towards enticing customers to buy the 2016 model year cars until the 2017 model hits Renault's inventory. With the added accessories, buyers, especially the younger crowd could be attracted towards the sporty look and may opt for the Live For More Edition.
