A lot of small car buyers had been eagerly waiting for the launch of the Renault Kwid. When the car was launched late last month, it shook the small car segment thanks to an aggressive pricing strategy. The Renault Kwid ranges from Rs 2.56 lakh to Rs 3.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Launched in six variants, Renault has ensured that the Kwid is comes fairly well equipped for the price that you pay.
Needless to say the base STD variant of the Kwid, is a basic to the bone model with very few features on offer to keep the costs in check. That said, the car gets an integrated roof spoiler, a gear shift indicator, digital instrumentation and indicators on the wheel arch. The base variant though misses out a lot of basic features like body coloured bumpers, wheel caps, dual tone dashboard, rear parcel tray, sun visor on the passenger and more. It doesn’t come fitted with a music system either. Surprisingly, the base STD variant gets a heater but no air conditioner.
Over and above the features on the STD variant, the RXE model gets a few additional features. The digital instrument cluster gets a satin silver contour as does the centre fascia. Foldable rear backrest, passenger side sun visor and air conditioner are some essential additions to the RXE trim. In this trim, Renault also offers a single din audio system as optional equipment part of which you can also get AUX and USB connectivity. For the all the additional features, the Kwid’s RXE trim costs Rs 2.89 lakh, which is Rs 32,000 more than the base trim and if you add the optional music system to it, the RXE (O) trim would cost Rs 2.95 lakh.
The RXL trim gets body coloured bumpers, passenger side ORVM, multi spoke wheel caps and a premium looking steering wheel with piano black accents. Other features on the RXL variant include a power steering and a music system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth as standard equipment. The RXL trim costs Rs 3.12 lakh.
In terms of exterior, the RXT trim is more or less the same as the RXL variant except for the addition of fog lamps. On the inside though, this top-end trim looks a bit more premium thanks to the dual tone dashboard, chrome contour on the instrument cluster and AC knobs, front power windows, air conditioner with 4-speed blower, rear parcel tray, upper and lower glove boxes and more. The Kwid RXT also gets champion exclusive red upholstery, a touchscreen MediaNav system and roof mounted mic for the Bluetooth telephony. The RXT variant has been priced at Rs 3.44 lakh but if you opt for the driver side airbag, it would cost Rs 9,000 more at Rs 3.53 lakh.
