Renault Pulse prices announced at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo

With a base price of Rs. 5.77 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, Renault has entered the premium hatchback market and that too with the introduction of a diesel engine.

Unveiled in October 2011 during the Indian GP by F1 drivers, Mark Webber and Karun Chandhok, the Renault Pulse has been launched at a price of Rs. 5.77 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, for the base version at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Designed at the Renault design studio in Mumbai, the Pulse is powered by the Renault K9K diesel engine mated to a 5-speed transmission that churns out 62 PS of power @ 4000 rpm and 160Nm of torque @ 2000 rpm. The Pulse is the first-of-its-kind to be introduced in a diesel engine.



Claimed to be the best-in-class engine in terms of performance and fuel efficiency of 23.08 kmpl according to ARAI, the Pulse will be available in two trim versions – the RxL and the RxZ. While the top-end RxZ version, priced at Rs.6.25 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, will be fully loaded with safety and comfort features namely front dual airbags, automatic climate control, illuminated engine start/stop button, lock/unlock sensing folding outside rear view mirrors, the RxL version will come with a driver airbag, all power windows, rear wiper and washer, follow-me headlamps and integrated audio features as standard equipment that will be there on the RxZ trim version as well.

Renault plans to launch five new vehicles by the end of 2012. On the occasion, Katsumi Nakamura, EVP Asia Africa, Renault s.a.s said, “India is an integral part of our global growth strategy and we are gratified with the way Indian customers have accepted Renault products. The successful launching of three quality products within 8 months is a milestone for Renault not only in India butglobally. Renault India is all set to take another firm step towards its commitment and pleased to announce the launch of Renault PULSE in India.”

Renault also showcased its upcoming Duster, Megane hatchback and the Lotus Renault Formula 1 car at the Expo. The Pulse will come in  six colours - Pearl White, Metallic Red, Solid Black, Metallic Silver, Metallic Grey and Champagne Gold. With the launch of the Pulse, this is Renault’s third offering in eight months of their inception in the country. “We have come a long way to what we had committed two years back to our Indian customers on the previous Auto Expo. The PULSE is a product designed and developed by our India design studio at Mumbai, focusing on the Indian customer’s aspirations, tastes and preferences. We are very optimistic about the performance of Renault’s first mass segment product and expect the PULSE to add a new chapter to Renault’s growth story in India,” said Marc Nassif, MD, Renault India.
