Rising input costs force Renault India to announce an increase in prices of the Pulse hatchback by 2 percent
Renault to hike Pulse prices

French car maker Renault has announced a hike in price of its Pulse premium hatchback by 2 percent. The Pulse was launched at an introductory price of Rs. 5.77 lakh* at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, but after the price revision, it will cost Rs. 5.89 lakh*. The price increase will come into effect from March 8, 2012 so interested buyers can still head to any of the 41 Renault dealerships across the country to buy the Pulse at the current rate.

According to the company, the prices have been revised owing to higher input costs. Marc Nassif, Managing Director, Renault India, said, “The Pulse has been received very well by our customers and we have received a large number of enquiries. The Pulse comes loaded with features which provide an extremely good value for money proposition. In the face of rising input costs, we have now no option but to pass on a part of the cost to our customers although the Pulse still remains as one of the most competitive in its segment on all features including the price.”

The Pulse was unveiled during the inaugural Indian GP and launched with just a diesel engine – the same 1.5-litre diesel motor that’s on the Nissan Micra and which puts out 64PS of power and 160Nm of torque. ARAI figures put the Pulse’s mileage at 23.03kmpl. The car comes in two trims – RxL (base) and RxZ (top-end). Added features and safety equipment include the option of dual airbags, illuminated start/stop button, lock and unlock sensing foldable outside rear view mirrors, automatic climate control, smart access key, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, rear defogger with timer, spoiler and front fog lamps.
