Renault, the French automaker, has experienced a patch of hit-and-miss in the Indian market since its entry in 2005. Now, in a move to strengthen its presence, a new dealership concept called new’RStore has been unveiled in Ambattur, Chennai. With several strategic enhancements, this initiative intends to bring a more modern and customer-centric retail experience. With plans to revise all its 380 showrooms by 2026, here’s a closer look at Renault’s latest dealership transformation and what it means for its future in India.
Renault’s new dealership format focuses on a fresh, contemporary aesthetic while also improving functionality. This new’RStore concept showroom now places the vehicle display at its centre, allowing customers to explore cars from multiple angles. Essential customer service areas, such as the after-sales reception and sales advisory offices, have been positioned around the perimeter to make them more accessible without disrupting the main display area.
The interiors done in a black/bronze-like finish incorporate updated lighting and premium seating areas to provide a more comfortable experience.
Renault plans to gradually introduce the new’RStore format across all its showrooms in India. By the end of 2025, around 100 dealerships are expected to be revamped, with the entire transition set to be completed by 2026.
As part of this transformation, all outlets will adopt the brand’s new visual identity with a black exterior facade with the updated Renault logo while the fundamental dealership operations will remain the same.
Renault India currently has only three cars in their portfolio – the Kwid hatchback, the Triber MPV and the Kiger being its only contender in the rather popular sub-4m SUV segment. Looking ahead Renault is set to bring the updated Kiger and Triber with their launch expected later this year as per their last announcement in which they have also teased a new SUV which we reckon could be the comeback of their popular nameplate – Duster. We might also see the Bigster (7-seater version of the Duster) making a debut as well.

All that discussed, whether this cosmetic move by Renault goes fruitful or remains for its namesake only time to tell. But it can’t be denied that with shifting generations and the new Gen-Z culture setting in, this move does count as an effective approach for the brand. We believe it wouldn’t go in vain if only the Duster made its comeback with a bang.
