The Royal Enfield Continental GT has been introduced in black colour for the Indian two-wheeler market. This will be the third colour option for the cafe racer motorcycle from Royal Enfield after red and yellow. The black colour GT features a new brown coloured flat sculpted racing seat with contrast stitching. The Continental GT in black color is available at Rs. 2, 13, 142/- on road in Delhi which is the same as the signature GT Red and GT Yellow color variants. Royal Enfield hasn’t achieved the success that it had hoped with the Continental GT when it was launched in the Indian two-wheeler market in late 2013. One of the main reasons for this has been its above Rs 2 lakh pricing. It also seems that Indian consumers have not yet warmed up to the cafe racer culture and given the fact that Royal Enfield brand is mostly associated with cruisers hasn’t helped its case either.
Powering the Continental GT is a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 535cc motor delivering 29PS of power and 44Nm of peak torque. The powerplant is mated to a five-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield has developed the downtube cradle frame in collaboration with UK based Harris performance. The front suspension has 41mm telescopic forks while the rear has Paioli twin gas-charged shock absorbers. The bike is shod with Pirelli Sport Demon tyres and Brembo sourced disc brakes at front and rear. Royal Enfield will be soon launching an adventure-tourer offering in the Indian market which would be most likely christened Himalayan. Powering the Royal Enfield will be a new 400cc motor with over 40Nm of torque. More news on the Royal Enfield Himalayan here.
