We know how it looks, how much power it produces and how it feels to ride after Adil went for the international launch of the Royal Enfield Continental GT in the United Kingdom few months back. Still, the fact remains, that it is one of the most highly anticipated motorcycle launches of 2013. Well there is enough reason for all this hype as the cafe racer captured the public’s imagination ever since it was first showcased publicly at the 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi. It re-appeared at the 2012 Expo in a prototype avatar, with the bike featuring all the details to make it look production ready. And now finally in 2013 the Continental GT would be launched to the delight of Royal Enfield enthusiasts who have been lusting after it for more than a year. The Continental GT is a landmark motorcycle for Royal Enfield as with this it kick-starts a new café racer inspired segment in the Indian two-wheeler spectrum in terms of a product and design. Powering the bike would be a 535cc mill pumping out 29.5PS of power and 44Nm of torque which is coupled to a five-speed transmission. The bike weighs in at 184 kg and this endows it with the tag of the ‘fastest Royal Enfield’. The Continental GT features a 13.5-litre fuel tank, Paioli twin gas charged absorbers at rear, bar end rear-view mirrors and will be offered in two variants of single-seat and double-seat options.

The front disc brake is a 300mm dia Brembo unit with twin-piston calipers while at the rear a smaller 240mm dia disc brake with single pot calliper is employed. The braking system is also capable of going to ABS-adoption and this should follow in a year’s time. The Continental GT would be launched on November 26 and it is expected to be priced between Rs 2 to 2.5 lakh, all Royal Enfield aficionados now you know what to ask Santa for on this year’s Christmas Eve.
