Royal Enfield took part in the Production Twins class of the American Flat Track series this past weekend

Royal Enfield may not be a name associated with motorsports, but the iconic brand did make an impact in the world of motorsports many years ago. With the marquee expanding its footprint in global markets, it has had to find new avenues to promote the brand and one of the ways to do that is by competing in American Flat Track (AFT). Royal Enfield made its debut in the popular racing series last weekend with the Royal Enfield Twins FT. You can read about the Royal Enfield Twins FT here - The 650 Goes Down The Flat Track Route

The Royal Enfield Twins FT is a partnership between the brand and Moto Anatomy, a team owned by racer Johnny Lewis. The bike has been developed by Lewis’s team along with Harris Performance and engine tuning specialists S&S Cycle. It’s powered by a bored-put 750cc twin-cylinder engine. Lewis didn’t get time to test the new Royal Enfield flat track bike and his first outing was in free practice. Despite the brief time to get acquainted with the race bike and it’s setup, he managed to finish 6th and 7th in the main race. Royal Enfield wants to be competitive this season and the focus for the team is to improve the Royal Enfield Twins FT throughout the remainder of the season.

The next race for the team is on September 25-26 at the Dallas Half Mile and Team ZigWheels wishes them goodluck and hopefully they can get a podium finish.

Speaking about his race experience, Johnny Lewis said, “We’ve been working consistently over the past six months to develop a competitive package for Royal Enfield. The latest iteration of the race bike was shipped over from India in pieces on Monday (September 07th) and we’ve been working around the clock to put it together. I’ve really enjoyed the development process of the motorcycle and Royal Enfield along with  the other partners involved have worked hard to make this happen. The bike performed well and we’ve got a great foundation to build upon.”
