Brace Yourselves For An Army Of New Royal Enfield Motorcycles

At the launch of the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, the bikemaker has announced that it would launch a new motorcycle every quarter for the next six years. While the bikemaker is tightlipped about its future models, we can think of 11 new Royal Enfield motorcycles that could come our way:

All new Classic 350:

The Meteor 350 is the first motorcycle to be based on the J-platform. We expect the Classic 350 to be the next. We highly doubt the current Classic’s UCE motor could survive future emission norms. And hence it could get the next-generation motor from the Meteor 350. While it features the Classic’s timeless lines, it uses the Meteor’s new 350cc motor and new double cradle frame.  

All-new Bullet 350:

Where there will be an all-new Classic 350, why not a Bullet 350? Royal Enfield would never let go of the iconic Bullet name. It could share the J-platform with the Classic 350 and be positioned under it. Like the current Bullet, it could carry the original design with a single piece seat and fewer frills than the Classic 350. 

Classic 350X (Roadster):

We could see a new Classic 350 variant with alloy wheels and brighter colours, something like they did with the Thunderbird 350 and Thunderbird 350X. Royal Enfield could call it the Roadster.  The bikemaker could style the all new Classic 350 like the Triumph Bonneville Speed Twin. Expect the bike to get modern features like LED headlamp and tail lamp and even get the Tripper navigation system as standard.

650cc Cruiser:

We have already seen the 650cc cruiser test mule and it could be coming next. The low slung cruiser gets upside down forks, alloy wheels and plenty of chrome. It also appears to feature the Meteor’s single-pod instrument console and tripper pod. The 650cc parallel-twin motor shared with the Interceptor 650 could be offered in the same state of tune.

650cc Scrambler:

Royal Enfield would want to cash in on the 650 platform and besides a new cruiser, they could launch a new scrambler variant in the future. It could be styled along the likes of the Bullet 350 Trials and get stripped down bodywork and dual purpose tyres. Would Royal Enfield offer longer travel suspension on the 650 Scrambler? Our guess is as good as yours. 

Hardcore Himalayan variant (Sherpa):

Royal Enfield could be working on a more hardcore Himalayan to take on rivals like the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G310 GS. The current Himalayan is a very capable motorcycle but could do with more performance. Royal Enfield could enlarge the current motor from the current 400cc to 450c which should liberate more horsepower. Besides more performance, the upcoming Himalayan could get more premium features like LED lighting and a digital screen with Bluetooth and navigation. 

250cc Himalayan:

As the Himalayan gets larger and more premium, Royal Enfield would also want to cash in the lower capacity adventure motorcycle market. Hero has the Xpulse 200 while KTM will soon launch the 250 Adventure. The current Himalayan has kept on getting heavier since it was first launched and the weight could drop with the new Himalayan 250. It could carry the current Himalayan’s styling with modifications to keep weight low. A slightly lower priced Himalayan could be a good competitor to the KTM 250 Adventure. 

Two 250cc Royal Enfields:

While Royal Enfield has denied a future 250cc motorcycle, we feel that prospect isn't completely off the table. With the 250cc segment booming and the new 350cc motorcycles getting more expensive, Royal Enfield could just surprise us with a new 250cc motorcycle. We could even see a 250cc roadster and cruiser variant in the future. 

Electric Royal Enfield:

With all major bike makers working on one or having atleast one electric 2-wheeler in its portfolio, we expect Royal Enfield to jump on the electric bandwagon soon. The bikemaker is already working on a few electric motorcycles and has already built a couple of prototypes. Who knows, we could see a retro styled electric Enfield in the not so distant future. 

KX Bobber:

Royal Enfield had revealed the KX concept bobber at EICMA 2018. Besides fantastic styling, the highlight of the concept was an air- and oil-cooled 838cc V-twin motor nestled within its frame. This meant Royal Enfield was looking at introducing higher capacity motorcycles in the future. The KX Bobber could well turn to reality and we could even see different motorcycles using the new V-twin motor.
