Royal Enfield, India’s retro-modern and adventure motorcycle manufacturer, has unveiled two new custom motorcycles based on their Continental GT and Himalayan bikes at the fifth Wheels and Waves festival, held from June 14 – 18, 2017, in Biarritz, France. The festival is a community union of everything that one can think of related to motorcycles, with more pronounced focus on hipsters, customs, community, surf and sand, and witnesses a gathering of over 15,000 visitors and participants for five days over four different locations.
Royal Enfield had showcased the Dirty Duck and Mo'Powa' in the 2016 Wheels and Waves Festival in Biarritz, France. The Dirty Duck was based on the Continental GT and it's main attraction was deep-water wading snorkels. The Mo'Powa' showcased, was based on the Royal Enfield Classic 500 motorcycle which showed inclination towards a drag bike. It was also turbocharged. Read more about the Dirty Duck and Mo'Powa' here.
Over the years the event has grown to become a bridge between the multifaceted world of motorcycles with skate and surf culture through philosophy, music and style. The company has developed these two motorcycles in collaboration with Sinroja Motorcycles, based out of Leicester, UK.
Surf Racer –
It is a motorcycle based on the Continental GT platform which is customized taking inspiration from the sun and sand lifestyle. The motorcycle is a completely stripped down version of the original café-racer bike. The 535cc motor has been tweaked and now gets higher lift cam, machined piston barrels for higher compression, and a new inlet manifold. The Surf Racer gets a Dellorto carburetor and jet-styled tail exhaust. The bike gets half fairing, 17-inch wheels, USD forks at the front and underseathorizontally mounted coiled spring shock absorber at the rear.
As seen from the pictures, the Surf racer gets twin disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. It is a single-seater motorcycle devoid of anything but the necessary components, which gives the bike a bold appearance. It does get bold graphics along with a big ‘Sinroja’ logo on the tank section to boost its appeal.
Gentleman Brat –
The Gentleman Brat is a custom motorcycle based on the Himalayan adventure tourer, and carries the same purpose. Completely stripped down, it gets a redesigned single seat with underseat storage case, a shielded headlamp section, 16-inch alloy wheels both at the front and the rear, single-disc rotor both at the front and the rear, exposed chain section and an underseat exhaust muffler. .
The motorcycle surely stands out with its attractively painted white and grayish green shade. It is shod with on-off road tyres which will surely serve good purpose both on and off road terrains. The chain is exposed and with the single piece swingarm and under seat exhaust muffler, the tail section does look mean. The entire engine is painted in the green shade which is an abstract design not usually seen on most of the motorcycles.
