Seat, as you know, is a carmaker and has nothing to do with two-wheelers. However, that’s about to change soon as the Spanish manufacturer is set to unveil its first all-electric two-wheeler concept in Barcelona on November 19 during the Smart City Expo World Congress. Being a new player in the world of two-wheelers, Seat will seek help from Silence, a Barcelona-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, to build the upcoming e-scooter. It will be equivalent to 125cc petrol-powered scooters. However, being a concept, expect Seat to throw a tonne of features like LED lights, a digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity and start-stop feature at it.
Seat says the new e-scooter concept is a part of its urban mobility strategy, so expect the manufacturer to bring this concept model to production in the near future. Once launched, the scooter will be sold to both private customers as well as fleet operators. The Spanish manufacturer already offers the eXS Kickscooter that was developed in collaboration with Segway.
Seat’s parent company, Volkswagen, seems to be hell bent on leaving the Dieselgate scandal behind and start a new chapter in its history by introducing hundreds of new electric vehicles. And Seat isn’t the only manufacturer from the VW Group that will soon offer electric two-wheelers. Ducati already has a couple of electric bicycles in its portfolio. So, does this mean that we could see a collaboration between Seat and Ducati in the future? Well, maybe.
