In a bid to leave a mark in the Indian EV space, Bengaluru-based startup, Simple Energy, announced the Mark-2 e-scooter last year. Now, the brand will officially launch its flagship EV in its home city of Bengaluru, on August 15, 2021.
The Mark 2 has already been spotted testing on the track. By the looks of it, the design is sharp and sporty, to say the least. It will be powered by a removable 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery with enough juice for a claimed 240km of range. Moreover, the Mark 2 will house a mid-drive motor.
The top-speed will be limited to 100kmph and it will accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in 3.6 seconds (claimed figures). For reference, the Mark 2’s arch nemesis, the Ather 450X, offers a maximum range of 85km in Eco mode. Also, it sprints from 0 to 40kmph in 3.41 seconds in Warp mode.
On the features front, Simple Energy has equipped the Mark 2 with an LED headlight, touchscreen console, navigation system as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
Followed by Bengaluru, more southern cities like Chennai and Hyderabad are on the brand’s list for the Mark 2’s launch. Simple Energy will price the e-scooter between Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh.
Apart from the Ather 450X, the Simple Energy Mark 2 will rival the Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube Electric. The future seems to be quite interesting with the number of homebred EVs increasing gradually. To check out the currently available e-scooters in India, head here.
