The upcoming electric scooter will have the largest under-seat storage space for any e-scooter on sale

The e-scooter market in India is growing gradually. We currently have Ather Energy, TVS, Bajaj, Okinawa, and the upcoming OLA e-scooters. Another name looking to make a statement is Bengaluru based Simple Energy. The brand has started testing its prototype electric scooter called the Mark 2.

The final product will have a different nomenclature, and Simple Energy aims to position it as a premium e-scooter. Most of the test mule parts were wrapped in camouflage, but there are a few details currently available.

Powering the Simple Energy Mark 2 will be a 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery having enough juice for around 240km in eco mode (claimed figure). Its top speed will be around 100kmph, and according to Simple Energy, the Mark 2 can go from 0 to 50kmph in 3.6 seconds. The brand is yet to reveal more details about the motor, but it will probably be a mid-drive unit making 9.5PS of power and 72Nm of torque. For reference, the Ather 450X gets a 6kW PMSM motor and a 2.9kWh battery with a 116km range.

The overall design appears to be quite sporty. Simple Energy will equip the Mark 2 with LED headlights, touchscreen instrument console, and BlueTooth navigation. Moreover, the folks at Simple Energy also claim that the Mark 2 will have the largest under-seat storage unit for an electric scooter on sale in India.

Simple Energy has already finalised the first phase of the factory in Whitefield and aims to initially have a production capacity of 50,000 units. While the launch date is yet to be revealed, we expect it to be soon. Till then, you can head here to check out the currently available e-scooters in India.
