The scooter is pegged to take on the Ather 450X which is the benchmark in the e-scooter space in India

Simple Energy is all set to launch its first electric scooter, the 'One' in India tomorrow. Interested customers can pre-book the scooter for a token amount of Rs 1,947 (a reference to the year India got its independence), starting tomorrow. The startup has already revealed the e-scooters price, which is likely to be between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the final pricing and other details will be announced at the launch event.

The silhouette of the pre-production suggests that the design language is likely to be aggressive and angular. But the overall look isn't what impresses us the most. It's in fact, the performance! It draws power from a 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery that claims to offer a range of 240km in Eco mode. Top speed, on the other hand, is limited to 100kmph, with a 0-50kmph time of just 3.6 seconds.

The company says you can charge the One using tits fast-charging technology called Simple Loop. This allows the batteries to offer a claimed range of 2.5km per minute of charging. For ease of use, Simple Energy will deploy more than 300 fast-charging stations across the country in the coming months.

The One also gets a generous 30-litre underseat storage -- 8 litres more than the Ather 450X. Other noteworthy features include all-LED lighting and a touchscreen with onboard navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

While it primarily competes against the Ather 450X, it could also take on the Ola Electric Scooter, which will be launched tomorrow at a competitive price. Other possible rivals include the Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube Electric.
