Skoda Auto has revealed the Enyaq iV, its first electric SUV. It’s based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB EV platform and rivals the upcoming VW ID.4 electric SUV. The Enyaq iV is offered in a wide range of variants including a vRS variant, making it the first all-electric Skoda to bear that prestigious badge.
Exterior:
The Enyaq iV’s design philosophy takes a crossover approach. There’s the familiar Skoda-ness thanks to the butterfly grille, ‘L’ shaped tail lamps and those sharp LED headlamps. But Skoda has injected a tinge of modernism with an illuminated grille, which Skoda likes to 'crystal face,' and a LED DRL that connects the Matrix LED headlamps. A sharp shoulder line flows through the profile and merges on to the LED tail lamps while a faux skid plate in the rear bumper top the design. Overall, the design is smart and will appeal to those who prefer class rather than style statement.
Interior:
Step inside the Enyaq iV and the first thing you’ll notice is the minimalist dashboard, inspired from Skoda’s butterfly grille. The centre piece of attraction is the 13-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system through which all features can be accessed. Other highlights include the sleek two-spoke steering wheel and aircraft-style toggle switches beneath the AC vents.
You’ll also be happy to know that the Enyaq iV’s interior utilises natural and recycled materials. Seat upholstery on select variants is made out of 40 percent wool while the rest is a blend of polyester from recycled PET bottles. You also have plenty of customisation options with predefined packages.
Features:
Noted features of the Enyaq iV include an augmented reality head-up display, LED headlamps, climate control, connected car technology, and cruise control. Safety features include upto 9 airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors and collision avoidance assist.
Powertrain Department:
The Enyaq iV is offered in a wide range of variants including a vRS variant. The first three variants are rear-wheel drive with a single electric motor in the rear axle while the top two come with a second electric motor on the front axle, making them all-wheel drive. They also come with varying battery pack options. Here are the detailed specifications:

Naturally, the Enyaq iV vRS is the fastest in this bunch and does 0-100kmph in 6.2 seconds. However, you may want to consider the ‘80’ variant if range is your main priority. The Enyaq iV’s battery pack also supports fast charging speeds upto 125kWh and charges from 5-80 percent in 38 minutes.
India Launch A Possibility?
This is something that’s yet to be confirmed. Considering that Skoda does offer us some exclusive imported cars like the Octavia RS245, we hope a handful of these do make their way to the country. Fingers crossed.
