Skoda currently offers the Rapid, Octavia RS245, and Superb in India.
Prices of all models will increase by up to 2.5 percent.
Rising input and production costs cited as the reason.
Shortly after Volkswagen India announced a price hike for the Polo and Vento, Skoda has stated it will also be increasing prices across its lineup from January 2021. The difference being, Skoda’s price hike will affect its entire lineup: the Rapid, Octavia RS245 and Superb.
The two carmakers join the likes of Nissan, Datsun, Renault, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki that are increasing prices of most, if not all their models. Skoda will be hiking prices by up to 2.5 percent across its model lineup. The carmaker has attributed this increment to rising input and production costs.
The Skoda Rapid currently retails from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 13.29 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered in the Rider Plus, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo variants. It’s powered by a 110PS 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options. The Superb is priced from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 33 lakh and is offered in the Sportline and Laurin & Klement variants. It is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 190PS and 320Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Last but not the least, is Skoda’s most powerful Octavia, the RS245. It gets a 2.0-litre TSI engine that delivers 245PS and 370Nm, paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It's also a rare gem, limited to only 200 units.
With 2020 pretty much over, expect a few more carmakers to follow suit and hike the prices of their models. As for 2021, Skoda has a lot in store for us including the introduction of the next-gen Octavia, the launch of the Vision IN SUV, the facelifted Kodiaq, as well as the potential successor to the Rapid.
