Size ain’t the Kushaq’s forte, with it being the smallest in its segment. The well-shaped 385-litre boot, though, can be compared to the Sonet, instead of the Seltos. Besides, its wheelbase is longer than the Korean duo, which should make it a comfortable four-seater SUV.

The Kushaq’s design, with plenty of sharp creases and lines, looks unmistakably Skoda. The familiar butterfly grille dominates the front end, flanked by sleek LED headlamps with crystalline detailing. The faux air dams and the silver skid plate give the front end a rugged demeanor. In contrast, its profile is sleek with a sharp shoulder line, 17-inch alloy wheels, and flat wheel arches. The design is topped off by C-shaped tail lamps and a butch rear bumper.
The Kushaq gets a minimalist cabin design with all the controls at the right places. The honeycomb mesh-like detailing and piano black bits add an element of interest while the new two-spoke steering wheel with metal knobs feels good to use.
Skoda has covered all bases when it comes to features, with the Kushaq getting 10-inch infotainment system with connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a 6-speaker sound system with a subwoofer, auto headlamps and wipers.
Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and electronic stability control.
The Kushaq is offered with two turbo-petrol options -- a 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre -- with both manual and automatic transmissions. The larger engine features cylinder deactivation tech, shutting down two cylinders under light load for improved fuel economy. Here’s a quick look at the specs:
