Skoda Octavia RS 245: Still Up For Grabs!

Skoda’s Octavia has been a dreamboat. And the RS 245 was the absolute pinnacle of RS coolness. Fun, fast, and practical! All of it for Rs 36 lakh. Surely that is not loose change, but such has been the appeal of the RS that it was sold out on the very first day! We are sure many tried but only the fastest 200 were able to put their deposits down to secure a booking. 

But then the coronavirus pandemic deepened its hold on the world and rattled everyone. This included a few folks who had booked an RS 245. We can feel the agony of these car enthusiasts at having to give up their confirmed RS 245 slots, and a dream. But that means a “handful" of Octavia RS 245s are available even today! 

So this might just open the door for some other lucky folks to live out their dream of owning the Octavia RS 245. In case you need a refresher on its hardware, here goes: The RS uses a 2.0-litre TSI engine that develops 245PS of power and 370Nm of torque. The force of these figures is multiplied manifold by the lightning quick 7-speed DSG transmission which directs power to the front wheels. Straight-line bragging rights are tied to the 0-100kph time of 6.6 seconds, wooof!! To put things in perspective the RS 245 is 0.2 seconds faster than the RS230 that came before it. This is no doubt down to the additional 15PS and 50Nm of torque on offer here, which will surely help you get to the 250kmph top speed quicker too! 

The RS’s repertoire also includes corner carving. So, larger 18” wheels, more focussed suspension, electronically adjustable suspension too, and other electronic aids make the RS 245 a thing to cherish around bends too. 

Lets not forget the RS 245 doesn't give up anything on cabin space or boot space, which makes it fiendishly easy to “sell” it to your better half or parents as a “sensible” sedan. Which it is. Which it is. So go on then, break the bank. Make the booking, and never look back, except to see the darkies you leave behind on the tarmac or to see the smiles of bystanders as the exhaust brapps happily!
