Surprise! Skoda Just Announced The Octavia RS245 For India

• The Octavia RS245 will be the last batch of the current-gen Octavia for India.
• The Octavia RS245 comes with a 2.0-litre TSI engine that develops 245PS and 370Nm.
• It does the 0-100kmph run in 6.6 seconds and maxes out at 250kmph.

Skoda India has just surprised us with an enthusing announcement. It is set to bring back the Octavia RS moniker to India and this time around it will be the brute Octavia RS245. The RS245 will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and launched shortly after. It is one of the most powerful Octavias ever built. 

Excited? We’d suggest you hurry, though, ‘cause only 200 units of the Octavia RS245 are coming here -- and that will be the last batch of the current generation Octavia RS for India.   

The talking point of the Octavia RS245 is its heart. It employs the same 2.0-litre TSI engine found in the RS230. But in the RS245, it has been uprated to develop 245PS of power and 370Nm of torque, 15PS and 50Nm more than the RS230. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG and the VAQ limited slip differential ensures that power is put effectively on the road. 

 

Numbers? The RS245 does the 0-100kmph run in 6.6 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than its predecessor. Pedal to the metal, it maxes out at 250kmph. Skoda is likely to toss in Dynamic Chassis Control where you can alter various parameters to enhance your driving experience.

The Skoda Octavia RS245 features the same cosmetic updates as the RS230 and more in the form of bigger 19-inch alloy wheels that gives it an aggressive stance. Inside, the RS245 will come with sports seats finished in Alcantara and a flat bottom steering wheel that will be draped in perforated leather. Dollops of red stitching and RS badges will be present to denote its exclusivity. It could also come with digital instrument display and a bigger infotainment system. 

The Skoda Octavia RS245 will naturally be more expensive than the RS230 which was priced at Rs 25.12 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). Meanwhile, Skoda has revealed the 2020 Octavia in Prague, Czech Republic. It’s bigger, meaner and cleaner than the current-gen Octavia. The 2020 Skoda Octavia is slated to hit Indian roads by the end of 2020.
