It’s confirmed. Zac Hollis, Director of Sales and Marketing, Skoda India, has tweeted out that the company is gearing up to launch the facelifted Superb, Karoq and Rapid TSI on May 26. All three models will be launched virtually due to the nationwide lockdown to contain the coronavirus pandemic. Here’s all you need to know about them:

Skoda fanboys, rejoice. For the first time, the Rapid will be powered by a TSI turbo petrol engine. The motor in question is the new 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque. Initially, bookings are open for the manual variant, with the automatic option slated to join the lineup later. More details here

Karoq:

The upcoming Skoda Karoq will be the Czech carmaker’s answer to the VW T-ROC and Jeep Compass. Dealership sources have hinted that it could be priced at Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom). The Karoq looks inspired by the flagship Kodiaq inside-out, which is no bad thing. It will be offered with a 150PS 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine, mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic. The Skoda Superb is all set to get its first update in the form of a facelift and heart transplant. Out goes the 1.8-litre TSI, 2.0-litre TDI engines and in comes a new BS6-compliant 190PS 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. Cosmetic updates include new LED headlamps and tail lamps, redesigned bumpers, and dual-tone alloy wheels. More details right here

All upcoming Skoda cars will be run on petrol power in the BS6 era. That said, the carmaker could bring back diesel cars if demand persists. Recently, the carmaker discontinued its BS4 models in the country. You can read more about it here.
