We have a go at India's latest Go-Kart track and come out mighty impressed
Smaaash Go Karting Track

Where cities like Hyderabad boast two high quality karting tracks, Mumbai hasn’t had a good Go-Karting venue for a few years now. Thankfully, the good people at Smaaash have come the rescue of the motorsport enthusiasts and answered our prayers…but with a slight twist. While one expects a go-kart track to have its feet firmly on the ground, this one sets skyward ambitions, literally. The new Sky Karting track at Smaaash in Kamala Mills is in fact located on the rooftop, 6 storeys in the air.

The first thing that hits you at the track is how well organised and of high quality everything is. Brand new karts in a spanking orange and black paintjob contrast against the freshly laid racing surface that offers a phenomenal level of grip and the red and white tyre barriers. The kart track, made according to UK karting regulations is particularly proud of its safety standards which have been made extra stringent considering the unique location of the track.

The karts in particular too are really well made sporting a 200cc twin stroke Honda powerplant that makes close to 6.5PS of peak power. Combined with the slick tyres, the Sky Karting track at Smaaash can literally be taken at full throttle for almost 95 per cent of the time with only two critical braking points on the whole track. As we mentioned earlier, the organisers at the track take safety as their utmost priority, which means that helmets, heat guards and a neck brace are compulsory. You will also be required to wear long trousers and closed shoes to be allowed to drive at the track, a rule we think is a great step to the betterment of the overall experience.

The best time to visit the track if you want to put down a really fast lap would be just around sunset when the track is still warm enough to generate the best grip and the temperature isn’t hot enough to make you feel uncomfortable. Smaaash will also soon expand their karting operations across a few cities in India and will also hold time based competitions in the near future to find the next karting star.
