It seems to be raining ‘special editions’ in the Indian automotive sector recently and not one to be outdone, Mahindra has just launched an all new ‘Special Edition’ Scorpio. This limited production variant of the Mahindra Scorpio, a SUV that is already a crowd favorite will come with a host of exclusive features that will help differentiate it from it’s run-of-the-mill siblings.
This new variant will come in a special Pearl White Paintjob and a set of chrome wheels that should help accentuate the Scorpio’s appeal. The chequered-flag decals add a touch of sportiness to the exterior. The one-off touches on the exterior continue to the interior with the Special Edition Mahindra Scorpio featuring a host of premium fittings and textures. Featuring leather seats and a leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, the Special Edition Scorpio feels more mature and luxurious. The Special Edition Scorpio also features a 9-inch roof mounted, factory fitted, DVD player that should help boosting sales of this variant.
The Special Edition Scorpio will share it’s mechanical underpinnings with the regular variants. With a 2.2L mHawk Engine producing 120Bhp and 290Nm of torque, the Scorpio does offer a decent mechanical package for the average Indian consumer. The Special Edition comes with ABS (Anti-lock braking system) and Airbags as standard. It also comes with an array of features like parking sensors, rain and light sensors and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Sensors), all of which are a carry over from the Scorpio VLX. The Special Edition Scorpio will be made in a limited production run of 500 units only and will be available for Rs.11.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
