The Chinese electric scooter market is flooded with small, cute and stylish city runabouts, and now the Sunra EV Miku Max joins the list. It looks quite stylish and it is something that we would like to see in India.
The Miku Max is almost as large as the Honda Grom or the Navi that used to be on sale in India. What makes it highly desirable is the almost motorcycle-esque floating seat. The circular LED headlight and the tan seat (on select colours) are a retro cues that can be found on the Miku Max. LED lighting is standard all around.
The dash is a rather sleek LCD unit that displays basic data like a speedo, battery percentage, tripmeter, odometer, and a clock. You could connect your phone to the Miku Max but there’s no provision for turn-by-turn navigation.
It gets a rather small 800W Bosch hub motor that is good to propel it to a top speed of 45kmph. It does seem adequate for a short commute. Sunra claims that even though the motor is quite small, it can climb up gradients of 21 degrees with a 70kg rider on board.
The 60V 20Ah removable lithium-ion battery lasts for around 60km and can be fully charged in four hours. This battery weighs 9kg, so it will require a little effort to lift and take it back to your home.
The Miku Max rolls on 10-inch wheels, with a telescopic fork and a unique rear double wishbone-like suspension springing from the frame. Disc brakes at both ends are standard.
There’s very little to no possibility of the Miku Max coming to India. However, we hope that some Indian EV brand can source something similar and rebadge it for our market.
