Electric two-wheeler brand, Vmoto, is all set to officially enter the Indian EV space. It has signed an MoU with the Bird Group for the distribution of its Super Soco Cux and Cumini e-scooters here. Bird Group, which has been around since 1971, is one of the leading dealerships of automotive brands such as the BMW and MINI in India.
As per the Exclusive Distribution Agreement between the two parties, the Bird Group will order a minimum of 10,000 units of the e-scooters in the first year, representing a sales value of approximately 13.8 million AUD. This translates to around Rs 77,000 per scooter. But before that, Bird Group will first purchase 20 Cumini e-scooter sample units this month. These samples will be used for a trial to participate in bidding for a government-led ride-sharing project in New Delhi. So, it seems the Super Soco might initially be offered on the ride-sharing platform and later, for commercial use. Similar to the Bajaj and Yulu deal.
Vmoto works along with a China-based EV brand, Super Soco. Recently, it unveiled three offerings: the TC Wanderer and TS Hunter e-motorcycles and the Cumini e-scooter. These models are already available in the European market. Moreover, Super Soco is also the platform partner for Revolt. The Revolt RV 400 was the very first electric bike to go on sale in India.
The Cumini e-scooter is powered by a 600W motor. It uses a swappable 20Ah battery with a range of 60-70km. It features an LED lighting setup as well as keyless startup. It also gets trackable alarm status, battery charge, GPS position, and other data via Super Soco’s smartphone app.
According to Statista, a German market and consumer data company, India has the largest ICE market in the world with almost 162.6 million vehicles sold in the last decade. Even brands such as Ola have bet big on the country’s electric future. If you’d like to check out the electric two-wheelers available in India at the moment, we recommend you head here.
