Suzuki recently updated all their products with BS-IV compliant engines and AHO feature. These include the Gixxer series, Hayate EP in bikes and Access and Let’s in scooters. The Slingshot Plus was missing in the updated bikes’ list and it has been silently discontinued as per our sources.
The Slingshot was offered as a premium 125cc motorcycle by Suzuki in the commuter bikes segment. The motorcycle was a good overall product but was not updated for a lot of time, though Suzuki did add the disc brake for front wheel as an option. Meanwhile, a lot of exciting motorcycles were being offered by other manufacturers in the 125cc segment which led to gradual decrease in the appeal of the Slingshot. The sales of the motorcycle also dropped considerably due to this reason, which might also be the reason why Suzuki is not updating the motorcycle and discontinuing it instead as informed to us by our sources.
The motorcycle was powered by a 124cc engine which produced 8.6PS @ 7500rpm and a peak torque of 10Nm @ 3500rpm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Slingshot produced less power than other 125cc motorcycles in its segment although there was a good amount of torque on offer at lower rpm, which provided a good peppy power delivery. Braking duties were done by a 240mm disc at the front and 130mm drum at the rear.
The motorcycle was available for Rs 63,302 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
