This bit of news will surely disappoint the hordes of the Suzuki aficionados. The Japanese two-wheeler giant has confirmed that it has no plans to replace its flagship offering for the upcoming year. It was speculated that the Suzuki GSX-R1000 will be replaced with an all-new offering for 2016 but the Japanese bikemaker has quashed all these rumours. The current generation Suzuki GSX-R1000 debuted as the K5 variant in 205 with an all-new styling, chassis and powerplant. Since then Suzuki has been constantly tweaking its litre-class offering to better suit the market demands. The last major overhaul to the powerplant was back in 2011. Powering the Suzuki GSX-R1000 is a 99cc, in-line-four motor churning out 188PS of peak power and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch assist.
With Suzuki returning to MotoGP, it was expected that the next generation GSX-R1000 will be heavily based on the MotoGP machine and will be loaded with technology gained from premiere class racing. It is also expected the next generation machine will have a crossplane inline-four engine. With rivals like Kawasaki and Yamaha upping the stakes, an all-new Suzuki GX-R1000 should be of utmost priority as the current bike trails them with respect to performance, hardware and electronic wizardry. The Suzuki GSX-R1000 retails for Rs 16 lakh ex-showroom Delhi in India.
