Haojue Motorcycles, a Chinese brand that makes Suzuki bikes in China, has finally launched the Haojue DR300 in the country. This bike is likely to be called the Suzuki GSX-S300 if Suzuki offers it outside China. It is priced at 33,080 Chinese Yuan, which is approximately Rs 3.55 lakh.
The motorcycle is powered by a 300cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine which churns out a rather mediocre 29.2PS at 8500rpm and 27.8Nm at 6500rpm. With these output figures, the pricing seems to be on the higher side. To give you a perspective, the Benda cruiser costs 19,980 Chinese Yuan (around Rs 2.14 lakh). And it gets a proper 30PS liquid-cooled V-twin engine with a belt final drive for that price.
The Haojue DR300 employs a premium inverted front fork from KYB, a linked rear monoshock with a 7-stage preload adjustment, and disc brake on both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard. The alloy wheels are shod with grippy Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres.
Notable features of the Haojue DR300 include an all-LED lighting system and a full-digital instrument cluster with gear position indicator. Suzuki is unlikely to launch this motorcycle in India as it already offers the Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250, which have been specifically developed for the Indian market. Moreover, manufacturing a twin-cylinder bike in the quarter-litre segment will make it unnecessarily expensive and it doesn’t really make business sense with such low power and torque figures.
