Suzuki India had sent us an invite for a new motorcycle launch on November 7, 2017 but the Japanese two-wheeler giant has been tight lipped about their mystery motorcycle. Now, though, the cat is out of the bag as a picture of the upcoming Suzuki bike has now surfaced online. With the new bike, Suzuki will make its debut in the entry-level cruiser market. The new motorcycle is most likely to be called Suzuki Intruder 150 in India. The tagline for the new Suzuki Intruder 150 is “the modern cruiser” and from the pic, we can figure out that Suzuki means business.
The styling of the new Intruder 150 is unlike any bike on sale in that segment. It is sharp and modern and flaunts hefty proportions. We particularly like the sculpted headlamp that looks as if it has been integrated into the swoopy fuel tank. The generous saddle (740mm seat height), beefy twin exhaust mufflers and chunky rear mudguard endow the new Intruder 150 with a visual appeal that will please many cruiser loyalists. Talking about features the new cruiser gets LED projector headlamp and also LED tail lights. The chassis seems to be the same diamond-type frame seen on the stock Suzuki Gixxer, but the riding ergonomics are completely different with curved back handlebars and forward-set footpegs to better suit its cruiser DNA. The new Suzuki cruiser bike will be powered by the same 155cc, single-cylinder motor as seen on the standard bike that puts out 14.8PS of power and 14Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and a monoshock unit at the rear. Braking is done by disc brakes on both ends and we expect Suzuki to offer single-channel ABS as an optional extra. Fuel tank capacity stands at 11 litres while the new cruiser bike weighs 148kg (Suzuki Gixxer's weight is 135kg). The new Suzuki Intruder 150 is expected to be priced under Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete against the Bajaj Avenger 150, which is on sale for Rs 80,960 (ex-showroom, Delhi). We will be riding the new Suzuki Intruder 150 on November 3rd but there is an embargo till the launch date so make sure you follow ZigWheels for all the details you want to know about the new cruiser motorcycle.
