Suzuki has unveiled the MY2020 GSX-R150 in Taiwan. The updates for this year are limited to the introduction of new colour schemes. Rest of the design, underpinnings and powertrain remain unchanged. A sportier alternative to the India-spec Gixxer SF, the GSX-R150 is sold in South Asian markets.
Cosmetic updates include four new paint schemes. It continues to be available in the two-tone yellow/black and red/black colour options, but the paint shades have now been inverted. The white option has been replaced by an all-black paint job with red wheels. The new Silver/Triton Blue MotoGP livery, which was showcased earlier, now makes its way into the 2020 lineup. Features like the LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, digital instrument console, keyless entry, hazard lamps, and easy start system have been left untouched.

The GSX-R150 continues to use the same powertrain as before. Unlike the India-spec Gixxer SF’s 155cc air-cooled unit, the GSX-R150 gets a 147.3cc liquid-cooled motor that delivers 19.2PS at a lofty 10,500rpm and 14Nm at 9000rpm. It gets a six-speed gearbox.
Underpinnings remain unchanged as well. The GSX-R150 gets telescopic forks and preload-adjustable Showa monoshock. It has 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 90/80-17 front and 130/70-17 rear tyres. Braking is via a 290mm disc up front and 187mm disc at the back with dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle weighs 136kg and has a seat height of 785mm.
Suzuki has no plans of getting the GSX-R150 to India as it already sells both the Gixxer SF and the Gixxer SF 250 here and it would be quite difficult to position it between the two. However, we do expect the new silver and blue MotoGP livery to be available on the Gixxer SF and Gixxer SF 250 soon. If it were to be sold in India, the Suzuki GSX-R150 would compete head-on with the Yamaha R15 V3 as it does overseas.
