Swedes To Celebrate 4th Of July In India With The Launch Of XC40

By now, you may already know that the Volvo XC40 is headed to India. And now, we know exactly when. Volvo will launch the XC40 in India on 4 July 2018. Bookings for the smallest XC SUV are now officially open and interested customers can block theirs with an upfront payment of Rs 5 lakh at any of the 21 Volvo showrooms across the country. Only 200 units are allocated for India in the first lot as all the cars will be imported from the company's plant in Belgium and there is a huge demand for it worldwide, so time is of the essence. Some dealerships began accepting unofficial bookings for the car back in May itself!

We expect the Volvo XC40 to be priced around Rs 43 lakh when launched, taking on the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA. Only one variant will be on sale in India initially - the XC40 D4 R-Design AWD, that is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an AWD system.

The Volvo XC40 will complete the company’s SUV lineup in India which currently consists of the flagship XC90 and the midsize XC60. The XC40 is targeted at a younger crowd with smaller pockets, and is thus based on the smaller CMA (compact modular architecture) platform but does not compromise much on quality, luxury or features.

The Volvo XC40 has many first-in-segment features on offer, the highlight of which is the radar-based safety suite. This includes pedestrian and animal detection with emergency brake activation in the city, collision avoidance with steering inputs, adaptive cruise control with lane keeping assist and parking assist. Volvo Car India is gearing up for the launch of the All-New XC40, an entry-luxury SUV. After winning the European car of the year, it will soon be available in India. Media drives are currently underway in Hyderabad. The company expects all of its first lot of 200 units to be pre-booked before the launch as the SUV promises to bring freshness in the segment with a host of features unique to the XC40.
