Tata Motors has announced a sub-brand - TAMO. The unit will act as an incubator and integrator of new technologies and ideas. It will work towards creating low investment, low volume products a reality. The first effort under the ‘TAMO’ tag will be seen on the 7th of March at the Geneva Motor Show. And if the silhouette is anything to go by, it will most likely be a sports car.
An image shared by Tata Motors of a veiled sportscar makes clear what can be expected from the first TAMO and also hints at how the brand lineup could shape up.
Hardware
TAMO products will be built around a scalable platform dedicated to the startup. Tata Motors will revamp its entire lineup on the base of two new platforms, the first of which, the AMP - Advanced Modular Platform, was also introduced today. Tata Motors will use shared components in a bid to keep costs down and to help turn around ideas quicker.
Why?
By acting as an independent innovator within Tata Motors, TAMO will help bring together and experience new technologies, innovations, business models and ideas from across the world. Apart from innovating, TAMO can also create products faster and at a lower cost.
Win-Win
Not only will TAMO allow Tata Motors to explore new niches and quicker, it will help Tata Motors earn a younger, more sophisticated and exciting brand image.
