Diesel variants are powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that puts out 90PS and 200Nm.
The Altroz is currently the only diesel hatchback in the segment
The Altroz could also get a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a Dark Edition variant in the near future.
It goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo and the Honda Jazz.
Back in August, Tata Motors had raised the prices of most of its models due to evolving market conditions and a rise in input costs. Only the Tigor received a price cut by upto Rs 36,000. Now, the carmaker has silently slashed prices of all diesel variants of the Altroz hatchback except the base XE variant.

The above table reveals that all Tata Altroz diesel variants have been given a price cut of Rs 40,000 with only the base XE variant pricing remaining unchanged at Rs 6.99 lakh. Interestingly, the base diesel variant’s price tag remained unchanged even when there was a price hike for the variants above it back in August.
All diesel variants of the Altroz are powered by a 1.5-litre Diesel engine that develops 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque. It is also offered in petrol options via a 1.2-litre Revotorq engine that develops 85PS of power and 114Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. There’s also a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol variant that has been spied testing which could be paired with a DCT automatic transmission.
The Altroz gets equipment like a 7-inch multi-info display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, steering-mounted audio controls, Harman sound system, automatic headlamps and wipers, drive modes, cornering headlamps function and keyless entry with push button start. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear view camera and ISOFIX mounts.
There may be even more updates for the Altroz as Tata Motors has trademarked the Dark Edition variant. This variant could follow a similar theme as the Harrier Dark Edition with a black finish inside and out. It rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 , Volkswagen Polo and the Honda Jazz.
