One of the most anticipated cars of this year, the Tata Altroz, has a lot going for it. And to keep that hype alive, Tata Motors has released various sets of teasers in the past. This time around though, a video teaser of the Altroz has been leaked online and it shows various new features and details about the upcoming hatchback.
The 15 second video opens with the hatchback’s silhouette in a dimly lit environment. We already know what to expect in this regard as the Altroz in production guise was spotted testing earlier this month. The video then gives us a glimpse of the flat-bottom steering which sports a silver insert and controls for music system and cruise control. The touchscreen system can be seen in action and we expect it to be sized around the 7-inch mark. The instrument cluster carries an eccentric design with an analogue speedometer and a digital tachometer.
Also seen in action is the central MID with a graphical representation of the power and torque. The Altroz will also come with different driving modes and the whole cabin design looks congruous with the Geneva Edition Altroz. The video also gives us a peek at the sky blue coloured ambient lighting, but we are not sure if it will come packed with other colours.
The video then shows the exterior top view of the car with the black roof and one very interesting detail. The Altroz’s front doors are designed in such a way that they can open at an angle of upto 90 degrees! The doors look strange for sure, and has its own perks and downsides. Main perks being easy ingress and egress while the obvious downside will be space for the doors to fully open and reachability once they are opened. The video ends with a Google Assistant logo, suggesting that the Altroz will most likely feature voice command assisted features.
The Altroz features Tata's new Impact 2.0 design philosophy with a shark-like nose and sharp lines across the bodywork. It is based on the carmaker’s AlphaARC platform and is expected to come with two BS6 petrol and one diesel unit. Tata Motors is likely to utilise the Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor that churns out 100PS and 140Nm of torque as well as the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Tiago which produces 85PS and 114Nm in the Altroz.

Tata might also use the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Nexon, where it produces 110PS and 260Nm of torque. Gearbox options for the petrol engine could include a 5-speed manual as well as an AMT option, while the diesel will most likely come paired with a manual gearbox as standard.
When launched, the Altroz will rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the recently launched Toyota Glanza. Expect Tata to price the premium hatchback from Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom), with the launch set to happen by August this year.
