Tata Motors bags an order for 1,542 Sumo Golds

Tata Motors has associated with government agencies yet again. This time the Indian automaker has bagged a deal for 1,542 Sumo Golds utility vehicles from various police and law enforcement agencies across the country.

Tata Motor’s association with the government agencies dates back to 1958. The company’s Defence Solutions has offered a wide range of vehicles in the light, medium and heavy category that include Logistics, Tactical, Armoured and Specialist Vehicles with low life-cycle maintenance cost to the government agencies.

Commenting on the orders, Vernon Noronha, Vice-President, Defence and Government Business, Tata Motors, said, “The Tata Sumo was conceived and designed keeping in mind the need for a rugged, comfortable and reliable vehicle that was powerful and versatile, with the ability to do almost everything with ease, including negotiate narrow city roads. These strong attributes have made the Tata Sumo popular in both commercial and personal transportation segments, and with law enforcements agencies. As a leading partner in supporting the country’s police and paramilitary forces, we at Tata Motors are proud to have received these orders for the Tata Sumo Gold utility vehicle and we will soon commence deliveries.”

The Tata Sumo Gold is powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine churning out 84PS of power and 250Nm of  torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Tata Motors has supplied over 1,00,000 vehicles to the Indian military and Paramilitary forces till date.
