As we head into the latter half of January 2020, Tata Motors has revealed more details of its upcoming Nexon EV. This time, the carmaker has divulged that the Nexon EV will feature ZConnect connected car tech, which boasts 35 features. Here's more about it:
The ZConnect app offers EV-specific features such as remote monitoring of charge levels, available range, charging history, as well as nearest charging stations. The next set of features are remote commands like remote lock/unlock, lamp control, and horn activation. This also includes remote cooling to pre-cool the car. The ZConnect app also gives users access to detailed diagnostic reports of key vehicle parameters.
Other connected features in the ZConnect app include location-based services like the car’s location, trip planning, charge halt suggestions, and live location sharing. The app also enables users to locate the nearest charging stations and Tata Motors’ service stations.
In terms of safety features, the ZConnect app sends out instant crash notifications, panic notifications and emergency SOS in the event of an accident. It also enables anti-theft tech with remote immobilisation via a dedicated 24X7 call centre. Other alert services include critical vehicle health and safety parameters, custom speed, geo fence and time fence limits. And finally, the ZConnect app analyses driver behaviour during trips with a scorecard at the end of it. The scorecards give insights into harsh driving, braking, and average speed among others.
The Nexon EV, unveiled in December 2019, is likely to launch in India on January 28 with prices starting from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom India). It will be offered in three variants: XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX. Its primary rival is likely to be the Mahindra XUV300 Electric.
