  • The Nexon facelift is expected to get majority of the styling changes at the front.
  • It is expected to borrow the steering wheel from the Altroz.
  • Engines expected to remain the same albeit upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms.
  • Expected to launch by the upcoming festive season.

The Tata Nexon is a highly capable product. But it must be mentioned that it has started to show its age amidst newcomers like the Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300. And in a bid to give the Nexon a fresh lease of life, Tata Motors will give it a facelift. Spied testing on our roads earlier wearing heavy camouflage, this is how the Nexon facelift might look.

At the front, the Nexon is expected to take some styling cues from the Harrier like the grille pattern. Its bulbous headlamps and grille are expected to be traded for sleeker units. The hood of the compact SUV is also expected to get a more muscular haunch for added oomph. Lower down, the Nexon facelift’s foglamp housing could lose the white/grey sash strip found in the current model. The housing could also be larger in size for added presence.

The side profile and rear-end of the Nexon are expected to remain similar albeit with some distinguishing elements. Expected changes include restyled alloy wheels and a new rear bumper.

Inside, expected changes include a steering wheel from the Altroz and a digital display a la Altroz and Harrier. It must also be mentioned that Tata Motors recently upgraded the Nexon’s infotainment system to a bigger 7-inch unit.

The facelifted Nexon is also expected to get some additional features like cruise control and automatic headlamps. Apart from that expect the features to remain the same. Standard kit includes touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, 8-speaker JBL sound system, multi-info display, voice command based feature activation and more.

Under the hood, the Nexon facelift is expected to continue with the same 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit and 1.5-litre diesel engine albeit upgraded to meet BS6-emission norms. The petrol unit develops 110PS and 170Nm while the diesel variant puts out 110PS and 260Nm. Both engines can be had with a 6-speed manual and AMT transmission options.

The facelifted Nexon is expected to launch this festive season. The introduction of the facelift with revamped styling, additional features and BS6-compliant engine could put the Nexon back into the game. Considering the updates, the Nexon facelift is expected to be priced more than the current model which is priced from Rs 6.58 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Apart from that, Tata Motors will soon launch the Nexon EV. It is expected to borrow its powertrain from the Altroz EV and is likely to boast a range of 250kms to 300km. The Nexon EV will also pack in a fast-charging option and is expected to launch by the fag end of 2020.
