It will get BS6-compliant engines along with a host of cosmetic updates
  • The spied image shows a redesigned front face (image below).
  • The Nexon facelift appears to sport a sleeker grille design.
  • Will use the same 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre diesel engines, although BS6-compliant.
  • Expected to carry a premium over the current Nexon.

Tata debuted the Nexon in 2017 to take on its arch foes like the Ford EcoSport and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The SUV put up a good fight, but with the ever increasing competition from various manufacturers, Tata has decided to defend its position. In the pipeline is a new facelift for the Nexon which was spied for the first time ever. Here are all the details:

The spied image shows the front face of the upcoming SUV and quite honestly, even though heavily covered up, it looks distinct from the current Nexon. The front bumper and hood have been completely redesigned and from what we can deduce, the headlights are much slimmer units with different detailing. The grille also seems to have been reworked and overall the SUV is expected to look a bit sharp when it debuts.

We can also expect a slightly redesigned rear end along with new alloy wheels. There is no information on what the changes are on the inside. But, an all-digital cluster and various other small changes are expected to bring the interiors up to the level of the new Venue and XUV300. The facelift might also see the addition of new connected features to make it stay relevant against its young competition.

Apart from the cosmetic bits, the most crucial change will be under the hood. Both the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines will be BS6-compliant when launched. Tata had also confirmed the existence of an all-electric Nexon and we can also expect the same cosmetic changes to trickle into the Nexon EV.

When launched, it will carry a premium over the current Nexon which retails at Rs 6.58 lakh - 11.00 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Timeline for the debut is yet to be revealed but Tata had earlier said that the all-electric Nexon will come in within the next 12-18 months.
