Tata Motors will be launching its first sub 4-metre compact SUV on September 21, 2017. The bookings for the car started earlier this month, on September 11, for an amount of Rs 11,000. It will be the fourth car from Tata’s new generation of passenger vehicles after the Tiago, Tigor and the Hexa.
The Nexon will be powered by the new 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol engine. The diesel engine produces 110PS/260Nm while the petrol variant churns out 100PS/170Nm. Both the engines will be available with three driving modes- City, Eco and Sport. It will be launched with the 6-speed manual gearbox only; the automatic variant will not be launched for now, but can be expected in the future.
In the safety department, the car will be equipped with dual airbags, ABS and child-lock ISOFIX child mounts as standard across all variants. Other features may include the Harman infotainment system with 6.5-inch touchscreen and automatic climate control. Android Auto will be on offer at launch, while Apple CarPlay will follow soon.
The Nexon is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 7-10 lakh and will take on the likes of the Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and the Honda WR-V.
