Tata Motors have launched the new variant Safari Storme in India with an updated and more powerful engine. The new Varicor 400 as the engine spec is called will be available on the Safari Storme only in the VX trim and is priced at Rs 13.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The standard Safari Storme continues to be available in EX and LX variants.
The new and updated Varicor 400 engine essentially means that the updated car makes 155PS of peak power and 400Nm of peak torque. The engine is a 2.2-litre, turbocharged 4-cylinder unit. The older standard engine makes 150PS of peak power and 320Nm of peak torque. The new variant also gets a new 6-speed manual gearbox with shift-on-on-the-fly all-wheel drive mechanism. The EX and LX varients will continue to use the 5-speed manual gearbox.
The new engine will also be used on the upcoming Tata Hexa MPV. As the new Safari, the Hexa will also get the 6-speed manual gearbox. Other features like the Bluetooth-enabled Harman music system, reverse parking sensors and multi function steering wheel have been carried forward from the recently updated Safari Storme.
